Jarvis Anderson Clinic - A Fantastic Weekend!

Sharing knowledge and experience is a unique aspect of the sport of reining. Reining trainers are well known for their willingness to help anyone concerned enough to ask for it. And that’s just what NRHA Top 20 Rider, Jarvis Anderson did for his attentive students for two days, April 25 & 26.
Jarvis shared his training program for older horses ready to show, younger horses just learning the maneuvers and everything in between. How to set up the maneuver and how to fix the mistake and allow the horse to realize its mistake without scaring it. He emphasized numerous times to allow the horse to make the mistake and then clearly correct it, to not “babysit” your horse. Quit helping it. Teach the horse to learn where it’s supposed to be in its circles, in its run downs. Resist the temptation to help it along.
After working on maneuvers he had his students do a made up pattern. He discussed how it looked and how to improve it, how to get more from your horse.
With Jarvis’ guidance every horse and rider continued to look more polished, more precise over the two days. Our thanks to Jarvis for sharing his time and expertise. It was a fantastic weekend!
